About Professor Brawn

Professor Brawn Inclusive Café is a social enterprise by Autism Resource Centre (Singapore) or ARC(S), providing meaningful work and social integration opportunities for persons with special needs and individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Our mission is to serve affordable, good food through an inclusive team made up of people of different abilities, ages, and socio-economic backgrounds.

Founded on 15 October 2009 by a group of parents and friends passionate about creating real change to the special needs community, Professor Brawn was built on the belief that everyone deserves the chance to contribute and shine. Their dream was to open doors to employment, showcase special talents, and build greater awareness and support for inclusion.

In 2018, after almost nine years of operation, the founders donated the Professor Brawn brand and know-how to ARC(S). Under ARC(S), the social enterprise grew its presence and created more inclusive job opportunities.

ARC(S) first reopened the Professor Brawn Café at Raffles Institution (RI) in July 2018 as a testbed for a scalable model of inclusive employment. A year later, the Professor Brawn Bistro at Enabling Village (EV) opened in January 2020 as the largest public outlet, offering an inclusive dining experience and employment to persons with various special needs. Professor Brawn Café also operates 2 other outlets at Pathlight School (Ang Mo Kio Campus 1) and Pathlight School (Tampines). Both the RI and EV outlets have since closed as we continue to refine and grow our inclusive worksite model.

Today, Professor Brawn Inclusive Café at Pathlight School (Ang Mo Kio Campus 1) and Pathlight School (Tampines) remain a vibrant example of inclusion in action. It provides authentic training and employment opportunities for persons on the autism spectrum, supported by job coaches from ARC(S)’s Employability and Employment Centre (E2C). Many of our team members are differently abled and work alongside colleagues and customers who value inclusion and respect.

Through our café operations and art merchandise from The Art Faculty, we aim to build a society where people of all abilities can work, contribute, and thrive together.
